Some people just whip through this verse and do not give it any thought. I think it's kind of cool and gives us an amazing visual.
Think about all of the spiritual darkness in the world. You are walking on a bumpy path, with many twists and turns. It is so easy to stumble and fall flat on our face or take a wrong turn and go in a direction we don't want to go. We need something to help us get through this path of life. And God's word does. It is a lamp to our feet, so that we won't stumble, and it is our light to the path, to help us take the right turns in life. Wherever you are in life, God is there to help you make your every decision.
If you look to God and seek Him, he will show you the way to go. He is the light that you should follow.
