John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Most people have this verse memorized. They can say it to anyone and just rattle it off. But do they really think about what the verse means?
GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD: I don't think that anyone could get this phrase fully. God loved us sooo much. And even though we are like an ant in his eyes, he still cares about us. A lot.
HE GAVE HIS ONE AND ONLY SON: He had his own son die, he sacraficed his son. I don't know if any of you have a son or daughter, would you sacrafice them? Probably not. That's how much God loved us.
WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM : When someone believes, they don't just say what they believe, but they actually believe in their heart.
THEY SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE: Once a believer dies they will not be dead, but they will live in Heaven forever.
