Child Like Faith

1 Samuel 17:45-50 -"David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will hand you over to me, and I'll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give all of you into our hands. As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground. So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him."

I know this is a long passage, sorry to make you read so much! I just think that this is the coolest. The Bible doesn't say how old David was when he killed Goliath, but some people say that he was around ages 12-16 years old. I think that is amazing! A young person who decided to beat Goliath came in the Lords name and with one hit of a rock, David won. That is a God thing right there. The thing is, is that young people today have low expectations. The Bible says in 1 Timothy 4:12- "Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young but set an example for believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity." Young people should be setting examples for other believers. The Bible says we should have "child-like faith". Children don't care what other people think. We should be like a child and not care that people think of us as a "Jesus Freak" or something like that. So when David challenged the Philistine, he had child-like faith. If you look to the left of this blog it has some of the blogs that I read. If you really want to see a child do something amazing, go to the Rebelution. That website, by the way, challenges teenagers to Do Hard Things. You should check the whole site out, it is pretty amazing on how many teenagers want to exceed their expectations. But the point for today is, is that you should exceed expectations today, and not be afraid about your faith, for if David can kill someone with a stone, you can do amazing things as well if you have God in you.
